a February do-over, please?

Hello dear stitching friends. Between my chronic illness flare up, a virus on my computer and the death of my beloved ex-Mother-In-Law (and she was a perfect model of a MIL and a beautiful Christian woman) I didn't have access to post on my blog!!

I truely loved her and will miss her deeply. My three grown children spoke at her funeral and I couldn't tell if my tears were from loss of her or the beautiful tribute paid to her Christian influence as reflected through my children's words of love.

I did get some stitching done with stitching finishes but not actual finishings into displayable items!! LOL! Just lucky my vision is co-operating in spite of very little sunlight during February. We got real snow and my grands (all 9 of them) had a blast!

hello dear readers. I need to ask that you put my beloved Mother-In-Law, Mary in your prayers. She has been very ill and is facing a dangerous surgery this morning. I have cried off and on since yesterday when I got the latest news. She is the sweetest and finest Christian woman I know.

Finished stitching Partridge

Hello everyone! It's a gray and cold, gloomy day here! I spent most of the week at Grand #8's while his Mom was away on business and his Dad worked doctor's hours. I didn't get much stitching done but made progress on a knitted scarf that I owe as a Christmas gift. I did get Partridge in a Pear Tree finished this afternoon and am waiting for 3 Grands to come and spend the night. I hope to get a start on Holy Night while we do movie night. toodles for now....

Okay so I still haven't mastered posting photos!!!!  LOL

SUN!!

Hello, Hello!! Bright sunny day here in Monroe which is a wonderful relief from our recent rainy, cloudy, cold weather!! I have some stitching finishes from the few days before New Year's Eve and before the "Eye Cloud" descended!!

This is the towel I finished for my sister. She will get it this weekend when I go down to Baton Rouge for my niece's wedding shower.

This is a cardinal that I will finish into a pillow for my beloved ex-mother in law. She has been a great inspiration to me and the perfect example of a godly woman and how to be a great MIL!!

This next one is what I am working on now. It is "12 Days of Christmas by Mike Vickery for Needlecraft Shoppe. I am using this for my Christmas Ornament a Month for 2015. Bedtime is calling...

Frustrating but too late for the frog to visit!!

Well, this just seems to follow my luck so far this year! I had started the towel for my sister early December so I can"t really blame it on eye problems, just on inattention! ALWAYS count in every direction when centering on a very restricted stitching space. All seemed copacetic and when I started the border, it was not correct. You can't really tell unless you closely examine it but I can always tell!! I have never stitched on Huck Showcase Towel before so I learned! Boy, did I!

Hmmm... Can't figure out how to add a second picture separately so next post I will show some others.

Still slogging on in spite of vision restrictions!!

Except for my continued headaches and dizziness with nausea I still managed to have a great Sunday! How can you not love 2 full days of Pro Football with a College Playoff game tomorrow? Well, maybe not YOU, but me. I love cold rainy weather, my homemade low-fat Loaded Baked Potatoe soup and fresh hot bread. Oh, and of course my handy portable heater for my 50+ year old house and my amazing new Ott Light bought on huge after Christmas sale!!

Speaking of Christmas, here are some of my trees and my sweet Snicklefritz helper:

VISION PROBLEMS DEVELOPE!!!

With great fear I sat waiting for the Opthomoligist Surgeon to examine and pronounce judgement on the state of my right eye. I had been experiencing fluctuating vision for several months but my GP thought it was a side effect of 1 of my asthma drugs. I had my vision evaluation in November and got a clean 20-25 bill of health. I had more fogginess in December and on New Years Eve had a long hairline floater suddenly show up and then flashes of color in the corner of my right eye. The next morning I just had a gray smudge in the center of my right vision. I woke up during the night of Tuesday January 6 with intense eye pain. The next morning I was immediately referred to and seen by a surgeon....

So here I was waiting for a chance to begin my New Stitchy Start piece but also waiting for the diagnosis. It was a possible small Retinal Detachment or PVD which will have to be monitered closely. The smudge is a very large floater that may or may not disolve but either way he says I will get used to it! Easy for him to say to a stitcher!!

I can stitch for very short periods of time and then my eye aches and I have to rest but I am burning with the fire and desire to stitch, stitch, stitch after so long away.

This is what I am working on now. It was to be a January 20th B-day present for 1 of my beloved
sisters. She is decorating in Mid Century Modern and she fell in love with these. They are from the June issue of Just Cross Stitch Magazine. Progress will be slow and she may only get 1 this month but soon.

It is O HOLY NIGHT NATIVITY by Stoney Creek on 28 count Blue Wing Jobelin with DMC & Glissen Gloss flosses & Mill Hill Petite Glass Beads. This was an open kit that I acquired somewhere along my roads and I always wanted to stitch it. I am a slow stitcher and have also committed to stitches and finishes for various family member gifts and to also stitch a 12 Days Of Christmas for 2015 tree!!
We'll see... winter storm coming this weekend in Louisiana and I plan to hibernate and stitch like a starved maniac! Toodles for now.

A New Beginning

Well, here goes..... I decided to start a cross stitching blog where I'll also have something to say about life as a 63 year young Dee-Dee (granny) to 9. I was a cross stitch addict until 10 years ago when a chronic muscle/immune system illness crippled my forearms and aging surpassed the power of "cheaters". Several months ago I found 4.50 glasses for $1.00 and my son gave me a tablet!! A whole new world opened up and when I'm not stitching I am reading about stitching or online shopping for stitching ideas. Then (deep breath here) I joined some stitching groups and decided to start a blog!! So here we are and here I go...
